International Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health (IDipOSH) is an internationally recognised, professional qualification for managers and practitioners with specific responsibility for health and safety in the workplace.Meets the academic requirement for graduate membership of IOSH (Grad IOSH).Following the successful completion of a period of initial professional development, a graduate member may apply for chartered status (CMIOSH).Health and safety professionals who are wanting to advance their professional career or undertake further postgraduate study.

Eligibility Criteria

It is recommended that candidates entered for the International Diploma have:
  •          Either a Certificate level qualification in occupational safety and health;
  •         or an alternative appropriate qualification in a related sector;
  •          or appropriate experience in a health and safety role;
  •          and a level of literacy and numeracy adequate to cope with their assessments.
This recommendation is intended to ensure that all candidates who enter for the International Diploma can undertake the assessments with a reasonable expectation of success.

Language of Assessment
The qualification is assessed in English only. Assessments will be presented in English and candidates must respond in English.

Exam Details

Assessment
The International Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health exam is assessed in Three units:
·         Unit 1: Principles Health and Safety Management - 3 Hrs written exam
·         Unit 2: Safeguarding People's Health in the Workplace - 2.5 Hrs written exam and 5000 words assignment
·         Unit 3: Promoting a Positive Health and Safety Culture in the Workplace - 10,000 words Assignment only

Course Content

The International Diploma is divided into Three units, each of which is assessed separately:

Unit 1: Principles of health and safety management
  • 1:The need for managing health and safety at work
  • 2:The influence of international agencies and standards on health and safety at work
  • 3:Developing and implementing a health and safety management system
  • 4:Identifying and evaluating hazards and risks associated with workplace activities
  • 5:Developing and implementing control strategies for managing health and safety risks at work
  • 6:Reporting and investigating health and safety incidents at work
  • 7:Reducing the impact of workplace activities on the environment.
Unit 2: Safeguarding people’s health in the workplace
  • 1:Occupational health strategy integration with an effective health and safety management system
  • 2:The effect of occupational health hazards on people
  • 3:Managing the health of vulnerable persons in the workplace
  • 4:Identifying and evaluating occupational health hazards and risks
  • 5:Developing and implementing control strategies for managing occupational health risks.
Unit 3: Promoting a positive health and safety culture in the workplace
  • 1:The importance of a positive health and safety culture within an organisation
  • 2:Assessing the existing health and safety culture of an organisation
  • 3:Understanding the factors that influence staff behavior
  • 4:Improving the health and safety culture of an organisation
  • 5:Developing and presenting a business case for improving the health and safety culture of an organisation.
